If you are also good at technology and handicrafts and have a good flair for art, maths or physics, nothing will stand in your way when attempting to persuade companies to offer you a position. In general it can be said that you can apply to be a metal fabricator with any school leaving certificate. Depending on the apprenticeship, you may also require an intermediate school leaving certificate. You will find the precise requirements in our job profiles. The hurdles for entry are therefore low.

That is the fundamental requirement for your apprenticeship to be fun at all. What's more: Pure muscle power is no longer required because technical innovations and machines will support you in your work. But you should still be eager to pitch in and lend a hand. An apprenticeship in metal construction normally takes three and a half years. After that you will have many more opportunities to expand your capabilities. The general procedure
You will receive dual education for three and a half years. You will be taught the theoretical knowledge at the vocational school. Within the company you will then apply what you have learned in practice – always under the instruction of experienced colleagues. You will then take the first part of the apprenticeship certification exam before the end of your second year of training. You will be fully trained once you have completed the second apprenticeship certification exam.

What awaits you in the apprenticeship? Quite a lot.
Labour and collective bargaining law will also be explained to you for any recognised trade. Safety and health protection on the job will be on your agenda.
